May 17th, 2009 American Idol, Season 8,We’re down to the finish line this week on American Idol 2009 after last week’s elimination of Danny Gokey. This week the remaining contestants, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen, will face off to help America determine who will be this season’s Idol winner.
Tuesday’s final performances will take place live at the Nokia Theatre in LA.
Wednesday’s results show will feature a reunion of the season’s Top 13 performers and a long, drawn-out results reveal.

I have been watching this hugely entertaining show all the way from Adelaide, Australia and would like to congratulate Adam and Kris - very different artists and both extremely likeable to boot. However, who do I think will win? I think Adam will. I think Adam should win as at the end of the day, while I really enjoy Kris, there are quite a few artists out there you could compare Kris with. Adam? He is very unique and the rare gem that everyone dreams of finding and only surfaces once in a blue moon. He really has the charisma, the personality, the unbelievable voice range and the dedication to his art, not just the desire to be “famous”. He respects his voice and his audience and is prepared to do whatever it takes to not let either one down. He is the male performer in the ilke of kylie minogue, madonna, pink, cher - the guy who really takes it to the audience like no other male performer since michael jackson. You really get your full dollars worth with this guy. It doesn’t really matter to Adam if he doesn’t win, tho. He will be a megastar no matter what, now that the world knows about him, simply because he is so unique and so talented. There are dollar signs flashing all over him and there will be plenty of producers very happy if he doesn’t get tied down to American Idol, I’m sure. Kris would probably benefit most by a win as he is not such a sure thing in the future - he will never be the phenonomen(?that looks odd)Adam will be, win or loose. Anyway, thanks for the great entertainment guys and girls. Wish I lived in America so I could attend the summer concerts. Good luck guys - love you both but Adam - you are something truely different. A true star, now born.

I really like Kris as well, but for him to win over Adam would be rather ubsurd. One guy can pull off a 2 octave, the other an 8. I mean, one is incredibly stylistically creative and exciting, the other mellow, smooth sounding and somewhat generic. I think Kris earned top 5 status,–but to win over Adam would be beyond an upset—an Idol travesty. His “win” would be forever tainted–not his fault–he’s up against a mega-star in the making.

Adam is a unique person and someone with his amazing talent comes into our lives maybe once in a life time and is a rare gem. Adam will probably win.
But…they said that the top two were only 1 million votes apart. Last year at the finale, David Cook beat Archuleta by 12 million.
Kris may have a shot. it would definitely be one of Idol’s biggest upsets.

I want Kris to win! but Adam is most probably going to win. It’s not fair that Adam is in this competition it’s almost like cheating! Adam is too good for this! they should’ve kicked him off the show earlier in the season and just let him go start singing instead of having to go threw all this. Kris fans are classy (and mature!) folks. There’s always going to be a few bad apples in every crowd. I’m a mid-forties mother of three, and am proud to say I’m voting as many times as I can for Kris. He is a true idol!! (Not taking anything away from Adam’s voice - I am impressed as well by his range - just prefer Kris personally. Go Kris!!

As for Kris and Adam, both are talented in their own ways and have their own style of singing.They and the rest of the top 13 should be able to go far if they work for it.

ADAM LAMBER is too good for the American Idol stage I must admit so if he doesn’t win, it would be like seeing the earth disappear off the universe … if that makes sense. Truly, he’s on the same bar as Liv Tyler, Guns & Roses, Bon Jovi etc already. The only difference is that he hasn’t made an album yet!!! I agree with what someone wrote earlier on, he’s one of those singers/perfomers people normally think is the ideal but possibly doesn’t exist!!! Like a fantasy … so seeing him in reality really is history for American Idol stage … American Idol is do lucky to have had him come through their stage!!!!

Regardless of the fact that I am an Adam fan, it wouldn’t matter, for even if I wasn’t - with the behavior in the media, along with the beatings, nasty blogs, and rude comments that Adam and his fans have dealt with, I’d vote for Adam out of pure principle. Its lame and a shame just how many idiots there are out there hiding behind their computers, trashing someone that has done absolutely nothing to them or to anyone for that matter! I’m sure if Adam had an ugly in his past - we’d certainly know that by now, of any of the Idol contestants for that matter. I was a big fan of Adam in the beginning and didn’t even remember Kris. However, having followed the entire season I am tired of Adam. The guy is talented like no other I give him that, but I like Kris better. Adam is getting very old with songs that sound the same as they did on day one. All he does is scream at the top of his lungs and frankly it’s annoying! Kris on the otherhand is starting to really show some talent. His songs do not all sound the same and he is very talented with instruments. I feel like Kris could go very far and do very well if given the chance. I know Adam will probably win but I really hope Kris does!

I think these has been the best season, specially at the end, the 3 finalist are the best of all, it is a pitty Danny should leave, he as well as Kris and Adam is already an idol, he sang so well at the end that make me cry, so if it is Adam or Kris any of them are an Idol, they both sing as well as Danny, for me they are my best American Idols from all the season’s till now….hope win the best…

Both are talented but Adam’s talent is undeniably superior. They can both sing, but Adam has the range and versatility that is even better than current established singers, they are both good looking, Kris has the generic typical look, but Adam has the mysterious charisma that one would crave to dig more about it. Adam has the showmanship and stage presence and versatile singing from ballad, r&b, pop and rock. Hence, statistically speaking, Adam is a sure winner, the only backslash is the number of voters who can really appreciate the true talent. I hope Adam fans will rally as much as Kris’ fans do. It would be disappointing not to honor the truly talented candidate just because he got fewer votes on a “talent” competition.

I disagree with you Judas. While I am heartbroken that Danny won’t be in the finale, I still support him in his future endeavors and will follow his career (see, I’m a real AI junkie!). I am afraid that a Kis win will hurt Danny. Folllow my logic for a minute: If Adam wins, then the season will be looked upon as one humongous talent reaping everything–and the other great talents getting lost in the shuffle…like Danny (one of the two best talents this season!!!). If Kris wins, then it will look like Danny never belonged in the finale and I contend that HE DID BELONG THERE AND HE ACTIUALLY HAD A STRONG CHANCE OF WINNING! I want it to go down in Idol history that Danny is another Daughetry–not that Danny was underserving because Kris was better. I think it is ridiculous that Danny is not in the finale and that Kris is. I wonder what was going on with the voting as well. While I am not the type of person to denegrade another singer, I am not a big Adam fan–I admit he can certainly sing, but I’m more of a classic soft rock chick. I feel Danny will still make the type of records that I will listen to and BUY! I will either vote for Adam or sit it out. For all of you that dislike Adam, Danny was your only real chance of beating him. At least that would have been fair! People would not have felt cheated. Hi,im in Canada watching american idol every week and i will say this, if Adam is not winning this week, i will seriously believe that something is wrong with the counts of the voting. Adam will be tied down to AI via 19E whether or not he wins. All top 36 have signed 19E options for 90 days–which menas 19E has the option of picking them up at the end of Idol season–Idol(or 19E) has 90 days to decide. Do you think these Idol execs are going to let go of Adam? Uh…no! So he is stuck either way. He might as well win as he will get more exposure and publciity AND HE HAS EARNED TO WIN! I agree!! It will be such a disapointment if Adam does not win. Let’s just take a step back for a moment. Think of all the Top 10, the top 13, the top 36. Then think of Adam. I know we’ve heard this a million times before but ADAM IS IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT LEAGUE THAN EVERYONE ELSE!!! In all the seasons!! He is so obviously the most talented, the most original, and the most entertaining. Let’s all vote for Adam!! Don’t let true talent slip away!!!
#75, Adam will be tied down to AI and 19E no matter if he wins or not. #78 is right. They would be crazy not to sign him. So, since he will have to suffer through a year or so of 19 Entertainment, he may as well get the title!!!

Hey fans—-coooollll, please don’t hate each other. AI is purely a “commercial entertainment” with aim of making TV rating and revenues. It’s not really a “true” talent competition.
For one, there is not even a set of criteria for judging, with point system. It’s all subjective criticisms and populist voting. Also, with due respect, the credentials of the present judges are not for “true” musical talent competiton.
Second, is there an auditing(transparent) by a reputable firm of the results of the voting? Who count the votes?
I will be surprise if there’s none, because in other countries, just like lotto and other contests where huge monetary rewards are involved, these are regulated and properly auditted.
Thus, AI is just like a circus; it’s just for fun and entertainment. Please don’t make “idolatry” out of AI hopefuls. Just enjoy each show particulary the Tuesday finale. Again, it’s no longer a “battle” of talents but a “battle” of number of votes.
The hating and the curse words? Not worth it!!! Just have fun and be entertained.
To the voting fans, be ready with your home phones, cell phones, phone cards, ATM cards, etc etc. Exercise also your fingers everyday and rate your self on how many calls and text you could send every minute. Strategize, on how you can make that many calls in 2 hrs.
Finally, be nice with Danny and his fans. This is the only way your “Idol” can win the AI finale.

How I wish a set of judging criteria is being used in AI to really judge the true deserving contestant based on their talent not popularity. Just for example:
Voice Quality(Tone, Pitch, Timing, etc) - 40%
Originality - 20 %
Stage Presence(Style) - 20%
Audience Impact -20%
Each judge will score each contestant based on these criteria. Then, the score of each judge will be averaged to come up with the final scores.This is the final score to be presented to the audience and viewers before the voting at the end of the show.
Contests like “Iron Chef America”, “Dancing with the Stars” has a scoring system, of their own. This the only best way to really judge who are the most talented contestant/participant of them all.
Subjective criticism from the judges of AI, has no value at all in a supposedly musical talent competition like AI.
This only creates favoritism, confusion, hatred and too much commercialism at the expense of the contestants. This is what’s happening now, in my point of view.

Chrys…I really do like your voting style! I can’t wait for tomorrow night, and I honestly think it is going to come down to song choice…they are two entirely different genures of music and each have enormous amount of talent…but whoever nails that sappy american idol song tomorrow, will probably win because that should tell us what creatively they have to make it their own. I hope Kris does well, and I could see him winning it all…I prefer his style of music over Adam…go Kris!!

I am watching AI every week from Switzerland and for me both are very talented singers. Adam has a very strong voice but Kris has soul in his voice!!!!!!
Whoever wins of the two its ok for me.
Danny sings well to but he was just to ordinary. Nothing about him was special or outstanding.

I am a big Kris Allen fan. I hope that Kris wins because I too am tired of Adams screaming. Yes, he is good looking and talented but when I see a man kiss another man that is just as sick as seeing another women kissing another women. I am a Christian and I believe if it is God’s will for Kris to win he will. I am tired of hearing the judges being bias and saying who THEY want to win. When I seen the girl who sang “I Kissed a Girl and Liked It” come out with a cape on and Adam’s name on the back I also thought that was inapproiate. If you are going to have a name on there it should have been all of their names and not just his. All we hear is Adam, Adam, Adam. That is another reason why Kris gets my votes. There are a lot of people in America that don’t like the kind of music that Adam does. Kris’s music is more soothing and easier to listen to. Kris has a lot of talent and a lot of support. GO KRIS

Camilla you are so right, and so are a number of you - they are all great singers to have made it even into the top 13. Here in NZ we’ve just had the 5th anniversary of our first NZ Idol and listening to him sing now comparied with AI, there is no comparison. You do need to vote though but based on talent not appearance. Vote, Vote, Vote America - we can’t unfortunately.

First of all, I really enjoyed this season of American Idol. I think the quality of talent was the best since its beginning.
Now about the final two, both are clearly very talented, albeit very different. Now as to who receives the most votes, clearly this individual has the most fans. Its not up to me to decide, I am one vote. And it really bothers me when others indicate the votes are rigged IF ADAM doesn’t win. It wouldn’t be in the show[s interest. Like Adam, his fans are very vocal (he does sing much more loudly than Kris) and Kris’s fans are milder (like Kris), so that may be the reason why there are passionate pleas that Adam should win over Kris. Remember previous votes have never put Kris in the bottom, so he does have a very substantial fan base. The show is American Idol, whoever America votes for is its IDOL.
Or is the US no longer a voting democracy.

I really believe that Adam should win. He’s been consistent each week; despite what many say. His ability to adapt to the different genres proves he has the talent. Almost all of his performances were flawless; no one is perfect. His charisma and how he takes over the stage and captivates you with his songs is a true sign of a winner in my books. I’m rooting for you Adam. I must also add that the talent this year has been extraordinary. This has been a fabulous season to watch.

Adam Lambert is the greatest talent ever on that show. Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson are fantastic, but they were “unpolished” while on the show. Adam right now has it all. Adam doesn’t need AI to be enormously successful. I got through last week 150 times at least. I hope the gay issue doesn’t bother some people and prevent them voting for him. I am a 69 year old woman, and it certainly doesn’t bother me. He is unbelievable week after week. I have never seen anything like him. How has he not been “discovered” before?

I will vote for Adam several times on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. I am praying that he should win, screaming is part of his style and that makes his songs not boring but fabulous, that is when you will hear the range of his pure vocal. He has a wonderful personality, good looks and star quality. Most of all his vocal is different from other singers because they almost are all alike. But, Adam, you go by your name, you are the first of a kind an amazing voice. You are one package a gift from God. You are 6′1″ tall, handsome, good manners, good body built, and unbelievable amazing vocal. I hope Adam wins because he deserves it, but I’m a tad bit worried given the demographics in the US. Voters usually choose a hometown winner, and that scares me because Adam’s San Diego votes might not be enough to topple Kris’ hometown stats–remember that mammoth crowd behind Kris last week? That’s why Chris Daughtry lost– it’s that hometown swing vote.

First of all, I think both contestants are talented and I also think they have a lot of respect for each other; and they both seem like very likable guys, so I choose to ignore all the negative media and crazy fan nonsense that is going on.
Second, I have to say, that Adam is my favorite, has greater appeal and I think he should win. He is so charismatic, original, very true to himself and his vocals and vocal range are impeccable. He has a very professional attitude and confidence, yet is very humble and sweet. The first time I saw him perform on Idol was when he sang Ring of Fire, and let me tell you, I have been hooked ever since. My whole family (husband and 3 teens) watch just to see what he will perform next. It is very exciting. I have never been so compelled to watch AI each and every week as I am now. His music is my feel good drug on my way to work every day. You can see that he is there to win. He really wants it.
Kris is great too, but for me, he is a little mainstream and similar to a lot of other performers, doesn’t seem to have enough confidence and is not always consistently good.
I believe the world, and I say world because I am not from the USA, is ready for someone more original and fresh like Adam. He definitely has the IT factor and I see him as a wonderful role model for my children. I love to listen to him and I think he would put on an incredible live performance, too. I would definitely pay to see him perform live.
I think it will be an exciting finale. I hope and believe that Adam will win, but if not, he will enjoy much success in his career. He is already a superstar ready to be unleashed on the world. All of his hard work has paid off either way. I will definitely by his CDs.
I say best of luck to both (but a little extra for Adam)! Brilliant careers lay ahead for both. Congrats!

Thank goodness for cable or I would have missed the best season of AM idol ever.. So much talent, I’m sure we will see many of these talented stars again. A lot of the contestants improved throughout the comp but they needed to! It surprises me every year how people entering this comp don’t do their homework and have no idea about the genres/weekly themes and pick the worst songs.. for those of us who have lived through these eras of music.. we’re left asking ” What were ya thinkin?” (so I have agreed with Simon and the others about so many bad song choices) Adam has demonstrated a knowledge and understanding of the music he sings each week and has been consistent in dazzling the world to date. In the 70’s I remember even here in Australia the day the great and late Elvis shuffled of his mortal coil … I see so much of the young King in Adam Lambert - looks and talent.. and the X factor magic the great King posessed. Kris is a fantastically talented and atttractive guy (very David Cassidy.. come on get happy..) but I truley believe that Adam has enduring star quality.. ( and the Kings curly lip and intensity) regardless of winning or loosing I hope the right people are in the wings to foster and support him so we can enjoy him on stage, a rock album etc.. a magnetic and exciting talent - GO A.L

Kris Allen is going to win AI Season 8 & live up the spirit of dreams do come true. Nothing can deny that Adam & Kris are very talented and both are in equal zone. But l believe Kris still have some remaining element of surprises and Kris will pull it out today. For his own choice he may have to do something like ‘Heartless’ or ‘Man in the mirror’ or he may take the risk to do ‘Apologise’ again butbthia time unplugged. Lots of us and judges plus Simon didn’t expect Kris to make to the final. And lots things said and done to ensure Adam be in the final and win. Who I think will win is Adam Lambert, HOWEVER, I do not think he deserves it. I think Adam is overrated. He is good, but i don’t think he is AMAZING! and I don’t think he has the best voice in the competition. Best Vocal should have gone to Allison. I was an Adam fan until he BUTCHERED ring of fire on country night, and he butchered ONE by U2. I will say Kris has the most memorable performance this season with HEARTLESS. Kris has his own sound and I can tell what kind of CD he will come out with.

I think Adam just does the same lame trick of “hitting high notes” (screaming). I know of the fact no matter who wins they’ll both be signed. If Adam wins I still think Kris would sell more. Kris in my mind is a great artist. Adam is a…I dont know what. He has a good voice but thats it. I dont see Adam having more then two CD’s (one hit wonder). I think Kris will be great.! I see him being a true artist.

So Kara and others say that America is looking for a true artistry. Well, all of us with an oounce of intelligence know that Adam has more artistry in his little finger than Kris. Yes, Kris has had a couple of good arrnagements and put a nice spin on a couple of songs. But Adam has been lightyears above anyone since day one. Kris is the “teen girls with cell phones”demographic all the way. Lets just hope its not enough to pull off the upset. Hey out there…if this is REALLY a talent show, there’s no doubt in my mind that Adam should win. Having said that, Kris has a huge following of teenagers who think he’s sooooooo cute and loveable. They are text voting up to 4,000 times in the alloted two hour time frame. Can Adam overcome that? I hope so. I’d compare Kris to Ricky Nelson who was cute and popular years age…cute, but not a great talent. Adam is the Elvis of 2009. He will be a mega star no matter what. Adam’s own version of the song, “Mad World” was awesome! And to Lindsay who said he butchered U2’s “One” and “Ring of Fire?” Are you kidding? They were great. Kris’s best was “Aint no sunshine” I didn’t care for “Heartless” It was boring to me.

The ONLY Adam performance that I TRULY enjoyed was tracks of my tears, but everything else he just screams. I dont think screaming really makes you a great singer… Kris is an artist, Adam is a performer, and the TEENAGE GIRLS love to watch a performer and thats why Adam is so popular.

I think Kris Allen, the dark horse as Paula put it, will pull it out and win this year. While Adam is great, I feel he’s screaming his lyrics and has become borderline annoying. I don’t think the young kids can identify with his type of music. However, they’re both outstanding perfomers and either way I think both of them deserve to make it big! So does Danny Gokey!!

I’m with you. Kris makes the strangest faces when he sings…strains so hard, it is painful to watch. Really weird faces. Poor guy, he is out of his league. Just can’t keep up…has to pick songs that are really mild…He has limited vocal abilities. Nice average guy…the sort of guy you would find in a coffee shop strumming his guitar for a buck.

Both the performances of Adam and Kris in last night AI finale were dull and not really their best. As, if the’ve reached already their “saturation” point and already tired and bored. That’s understandable after so many weeks of performances at AI. I missed the “vocal master class” of Danny though.

Those 4 “honorable” AI judges and “musical guru” sort of, always “preaching” to AI contestants about the right song choices. And yet, that finale song,”No Boundaries”, was really horrible. Even the songs chosen by Simon Fuller for Adam and Kris were also horrible. That’s unfair for both Adam and Kris.
That could be the reason why, last night finale lacks luster. Both contestants were really trying hard to give a good interpretation to the songs of which they don’t feel like singing.
Though they’d tried their best for the sake of competition and professionism. They’re really true artists themselves and stick to the rule, “The Show Must Go On”.
Congrats to Adam and Kris for your professionalism. More Power to both of you.

I think it’s true that Adam Lambert single handedly saved American Idol this season. It seems he has studied and worked hard to get to where he is. He definitely deserves to win based on talent, but did he appeal to the tweens? If he loses it’s no big deal, he has already caused more buzz than any other idol and he will have a great career either way.

I believe that Adam and Kris did pretty good with the “finale song”. They actually saved the song which was terribly done. Albeit, it still made us all uncomfortable to watch them suffer while singing the song. They both deserve to have a better song composition. They’re both great talents!

The great American Idol Tragedy has happened.
The most talented artist to date…Adam Lambert came in #2.
Something is wrong with American Idol’s system. It is flawed. Millions of people are scratching their heads about the outcome. We don’t get it…And now millions of us don’t get the purpose of American Idol. Why waste time on a show that has only picked 1 SuperStar - Carrie Underwood? Did you see the look at Simon Cowell’s face when the winner was announced? Chris even said…Adam deserves this….
American Idol Producers must have decided to fill the show with SuperStars to keep interest in a show losing power. Although Chris did well on a few songs with limited ranges, he’s not star material. Adam was a pro every step of the way..
Let’s find another show that actually finds SuperStars and talent! American Idol enjoys making fun of people…A little too Gong Show for us music lovers..

OMG.. Thank God.. Kris won!! I Loved Danny.. but America Made a sad mistake of taking him off.. But Kris is awsome.. and Yes.. Adam is.. oh so hot.. I find myself actually drooling sometime (just kidding) but no he is really hot.. and yea he is good but he is not great… He is not a “Rock God” like so many people like to say.. I think that he should have went on Americas next top model.. he would win that.. tee hee.. but No.. in all seriousness adam is good.. but Kris is so much better.. thanks and have a nice wonderful day!!
