American Idol 2009 Top 9 Elimination Results Show Tonight
April 1st, 2009 American Idol, Results, Season 8,Tonight on American Idol 2009, the 2009 Top 9 elimination results are set to be revealed, giving us the American Idol Top 8 for the season. I got a real kick out of the new theme for this week as it let the singers have a much wider range of creative freedom.
Let’s hear some elimination predictions below in the comments then vote in the American Idol poll on who you think will be sent packing. Then check back tonight here for the live results as I’ll be posting them as it happens during the show. It looks like Megan Joy could be in real trouble!
Anyone else looking forward to David Cook coming back to sing “Come Back to Me” off his self-title album? I’m not a big Lady Gaga fan, she’ll be there to sing “Poker Face,” but apparently enough people like her to make her the other guest performer.

I couldn’t understand why the judges laid the praise on Kris, but crushed Matt. I thought they had similar performances but I did prefer Matt’s.
Giraud seems to have become the judges’ whipping boy this week after his 2nd to last position last week.

I think Meghan should have sang Brand New Key by Melanie done back in the 1970’s. She has the perfect tremor or tone for this song. I am a big fan of her but last night I don’t believe she did very well. Wrong song, bad choice.

I think Megan should go home this week (or last week or the week before). She just isn’t on the same level as the other finalists. Danny, Adam, and Allison should be the top three!

Don’t agree with you at all. Both are very good and anyone who thinks Danny should be in the top three and not Lil is very very sad indeed. Everyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that Danny is way too nerdy and sheepish to be an idol!! Everyone votes out of sympathy for him and nothing else.

So Matt had a bad night, so did everyone else. Atleast Matt can sing. Megan what the heck. Vocals terrible. Nada where in the world do you get to see the votes? Hopefully your wrong and Megan’s sent packing. If not, I’m done with this ridulous show. Oh and by the way, Adam just scarey as hell! Freak show. Not an American Idol image.

Megan has got to go. Can’t believe she’s still in it. Adam is freakin’ unbelievable! Would like him to do a Freddie Mercury/Queen song! “Somebody to Love” would be great.

I just took the poll on who should be eliminated and, of 729 who voted (myself included), 67% (myself also included) said Megan should go. I find those numbers very significant — and surprising, giving that she was terrible last week and was not in the bottom three. I agree with you that Adam is amazing — he has the whole package — talent, showmanship, and the ability to recreate himself and the music he tackles. I also agree that both Danny and Allison are wonderful singers and are likely to last for several more weeks. Lil is a powerful singer who has tremendous range and quality. Her song choices, though, have not been the best. They do not do the most in terms of highlighting her as a unique artist. Maybe she’ll get some better advice in future weeks. Kris did an excellent job, once again. He took an old song and gave it a very sensitive and fresh interpretation. Matt’s performance was not as good as in previous weeks — last week especially. He is a terrific singer and I hope he’ll be back next week.

I TOTALLY agree with Rich’s assessment… right on target! But I think that Megan and/or Scott should go. I like them both and think Megan’s vocals are better, but her performances are terrible (that dumb shake she does). Scott doesn’t have the vocals to become the AI winner, but I really enjoy watching him perform - he has alot of heart & soul! I have a love/hate relationship with Adam - sometimes I think he did great (Motown week) - and sometimes(Country week)I can’t even look at him. But I do look forward to what he is going to do next… whether I hate it or love it… I guess that’s what a good performer is supposed to do! Allison is awesome! C’mon… she really did not deserve all the digs about her outfit… I personally didn’t like it either - but she didn’t look that bad! BTW - has anybody ever seen how Gwen Stefani dresses? It always looks like her closet exploded all over her! I love Gwen - but I don’t want her to dress me either. And if Allison wanted to do a Gwen Stefani song - there are so many better songs to choose from… Matt was not as good as last week - but I hope he stays. I enjoy his perfromances too. Kris’s performance was awesome - even though his mouth movements annoy me. Lil, has a great voice - but she defintiely needs to start picking songs that will represent what kind of artist she wants to be - and Celine (thankfully) is not who she will be!

Are you kidding me? Adam is so awsome. No matter what he sells I’ll buy it! He can do everything and make anything uniqe and his own. He’s everything an artist should be, no matter what he looks like…. plus those vocals! that range! go Adam!

Adam is a great singer. It is humorous to see posts stating he can’t sing. Just say “I don’t like his style of singing” because, like it or not, the guy can sing! Megan, on the otherhand, cannot. She is a joke and I can only assume the judges and the producers are embarrassed by her at this point. Maybe she can finish up her stint on “America’s Next Top Model” where she is a better fit. Talentless, but pretty. I sort of lump Anoop, Matt and Kris together in one category and my opinion of each shifts a bit, but mostly each of them is: pretty okay to fairly good. Though Kris was strong this week. Lil is fading and too bad, I think she has nice stage presense and a very decent voice. I am not the huge fan of Allison that everyone else seems to be. I do not understand why she is so popular. She is good, but other than the ability to hit high notes, her voice is “okay” to me–a little shakey and non-descript, maybe it’s just untrained. I think because she is “only 16″ people are over-compensating for her. She is not original and not, in my opinion, the top 3 and possibly not the best female, quality wise. Sorry. I think Danny is pretty good too. I think Adam is by far the best and it is kind of funny watching the show sometimes when there is such a huge chasm talent-wise between Adam and all of the others; I am speaking of pure vocal quality.
Not to sound mean, but does Kara bother anyone else? Can we find a new buzz word for her other than “artistry”. Judging takes too long with her inane input. she should just say “ditto” to everything that Simon says. Maybe she can leave and become Megan’s manager. OK…Sorry…

This year is awful! The judges made some major mistakes with this year picks. Not to mention the judges are bugging us all. We have Idol talk every week in the office and none of us will be attending the tour this year! Chris and Adam are our picks, I just hope we can make it through the rest of the season….

I don’t think they are saving the pass for Adam as I would be quite surprised if he were kicked off before the final 5. I think they will give the save to: Kris, Danny, Allison, Adam (of course) and perhaps, though not definitely, Lil if they are dumped before final 5. I think all of the others might be shed without intervention from the judges. Hey, and since the judges did such an inferior job with their “wild card” picks this season, maybe they should not be allowed to have the “save”.
I also think that Simon is quite hard on Adam; probably because he feels he needs to keep it competitive for viewership.

I don’t care what anyone says, Megan Has to go!!! She has a unique voice but doesn’t know how to use it. So Megan will definitely leave the show tonight. She doesn’t respect what the Judges say and doesn’t take their critic seriously. IF she was making the right choices with the songs, I think she would be justified with her arrogance, but sorry, her song choice has sucked week after week. She should be singing some Norah Jones or Diana Krall songs. I am actually disappointed with her because I was really pulling for her.

Regarding the elimination of Megan I thought it was fair. She was ready to go and didn’t care anymore, if ever. At first I really liked her because she was unique, fun and had a hip look, but I know now her attitude over shaded her looks. I really believed the fame got to her and she would never been able to handle the fame. She actually thought her so called “fans” were going to save her. During her last song her attitude was arrogant, disrespectful and cocky. Anyway, hoping that Adam wins AI and if not him then I would like to see Kris or Lil

Sergio, I expect more from Simon, an international multi millionaire than I do from a 23 year old divorcee from Salt Lake City. What if Megan decided to be as petty as Simon in her farewell as opposed conducting herself with dignity and thanking everyone involved in the process. According to you Simon had every right to speak the way he did, if so then Megan could have reciprocated and that would have been fine according to you. I personally tune in to watch a talent show, not a grown man acting like a prepubescent child who strikes out because his ego is so fragile. Simon is usually spot on with his comments and observations, I agree with him more often than the rest of the judges combined, but last night he was wrong and he needs to step up and act like a man not some pissed off spoiled little millionaire who wants to hurt a girl because his ego cannot take someone telling him “I don’t care.” For the record Megan had no chance of winning nor is she my favorite. However, she got “this far” not because of Simon but because of her talent and the voting of all the judges and the American people, she owns Simon nothing, in fact AI owes the Megan’s of this country a debt of gratitude, without them there would be no show. The show is about the contestant, those are the people I tune in to watch not the judges. The bottom line is Simon acted like a bully for the worst of all reasons, simply because he could.

Adam Lambert is far ahead of the rest. Danny, Chris, and Allison are contenders, but there is no mistake Adam has the looks, the voice, the moves etc…. I just hope he doesn’t get to cocky and take for granted how good he is! I don’t understand how a person can say Adam is not good. Give me a break!!!

Ummm..Kyle, yes Megan did say “It’s okay…” but BEFORE that when Ryan asked her what she thought of Simon’s comments about her (IMO: AWFUL) performance the previous night, she remarked “I love you Simon, But I really don’t care”. She is weird, odd, nutsy and untalented and deserved to go. However, she is pretty, so if that is your criteria, by all means be upset over her overdue departure.

To Mike Robinson — I completely agree with everything you said — Simon is an arrogant egomaniacal out of control bully — he has money and fame so he feels everyone should be under his control — he completely acted like a tiny little child stamping its indignant foot when Megan said she didn’t care — good for her — COWELL IS NOT A GOD — he makes plenty of mistakes — he couldn’t stand Kelly Clarkson, he didn’t like Jennifer Hudson, he also said that David Cook was not interesting or stood out — the man is simply that a man and that is all — Megan was clearly overcompensating by trying NOT to be upset through the whole show — joking, laughing way too much — it was obvious she was very upset and hurt, but that is human nature — Simon is a bully from the word go — he is good at his JOB - that does not define a human being — I think Megan has the most interesting and quirky voice that has been on the show — with more training and the right people, she could be amazing. Adam is my favourite by far - but Simon’s arrogance has gotten tedious, predictable and boring — just like he says about a lot of performers — He bores ME — TOO MUCH POWER AND NOT ENOUGH HUMANITY

Best thing they did was get rid of Mega. Not saying she didn’t have a vioce of her own.
Step back Kris is GOOD, and he may srprize us all. Adam is a theater singer. He souldn’t even be on the show.
Lets get someone who can sing and write music, and we should be able to sit and listen to for more then an hour….

Can a person who is a theatre (correct spelling)singer, not become an American Idol?!! He would probably make a TAD more money!! YA THINK!! If you could sing, would you stick to theatre singing or try your luck on American Idol and the opportunity for BIG BUCK’S!!! Tommorrow, Tuesday you should listen closely to Adam!! Kris is different and has gotten better every week…Danny is up there also. These next weeks will be VERY INTERESTING.

I just re read my comment that Chris would go! I meant the blind fellow would go which he did tonight! It was heartbreaking to see him go but there can only be one winner! He just isn’t up there with the best. I agree with you Louise, the show was quite boring Tuesday night! I think Adam and Allison were good but the rest!!!
