American Idol 2009 Top 7 Performances Tonight
April 14th, 2009 American Idol, Performances, Season 8,Tonight on American Idol 2009, the Top 7 performers will take to the stage where sing songs from the movies under the guidance of director Quentin Tarantino, whose latest film “Inglorious Basterds” releases this summer (watch the awesome trailer here). This should be interesting!
Now that the group has been broken down into a set of singers who can all actually sing this should make for some tough eliminations.
Let’s start hearing some guesses on who will be this week’s top performer. Be sure to vote in the American Idol Top 7 poll and then leave your comments below to battle it out for your favorite!

ADAM LAMBERT ALL THE WAY!! I am so happy for him and that he has so many fans that wait for him every week. His voice is absolutely amazing. His performances blow me away, especially last weeks! I cannot wait to see what he has in store for the future

I really enjoy listening to Adam Lambert - a true professional. Everyone I talk to believes that he will be huge when his CD comes out.
One thing I do not like this year is the 4 judges, it is just too long and I get bored and start flipping to other channels. Could there be a maximum time limit for Paula to comment as she seems to take all the allotted time to say the same thing over and over again?

I agree with Robin…so over Adam Lambert!! His CD would be nothing but a screech-fest! He needs to go back to Broadway or where ever he came from. Wayyyyy too theatrical!!! Bring it Danny!!! Class act all the way!!!!

First of all Sherri, thats not even funny, just cruel. Now,
Allison - good voice but not one of my favorite - screams but not as bad as Adam.
Anoop - ok
Adam - could not wait till it was over. Screaming and all over the place. Looked liked a drag queen.
Matt - the judges are so up and down with him. Last week, they loved him - tonight not so much. One of my favorites. Always sounds good to me. More down to earth, atleast you can understand his smooth vocals.
Danny - boring - quit playing the sympathy card
Kris - tonight I couldn’t understand a word he sang - sounded nasally - all thru the nose.

-Lambert is a 1 trick pony and needs some proactive.
-Gokey is playing the dead wife card way too much.
-Anoop unfortunately was the best of the night.
-Chris was good, but what did he sing again???
-Allison was ok but i still cant get past the hair.
-Matt is in over his head at this point.
-Lil is not nearly as good as she thinks.
With that said… Lil will sing for a save tomorrow night.

Tonight…Adam screamed his way through this song. He’s definitely a rocker; however, there’s something for me about his skin that makes mine creep. All his songs sound the same. I guess I am not the “rocker” person.
Danny and Allison are still my favorites. Loved the way Danny changed his look. Allison rocks. Anoop was great but don’t think he’s a true “idol.”
I did not think Kris made a good choice. He started out too low for himself and was off.Matt, too…didn’t do it for me tonight for these two. I would be surprised if this wasn’t L’il last night. Did not love it! I agree with Simon about her..she started out strong, but has weakened along the way.

adam is addicting! i have never watched any of the other contestants more than the one time on the show. i can’t wait to watch adam over and over again. and all of his previous performances too. each time he gets better and better. no one can even compete with his talent!!!

Kris was awesome tonight. The song he sang was from the movie, “Once.” He is my choice!!! I only wish I could have heard him sing more of the song!! Matt needs to go! He was so off key, and so pitchy!!

Kris was just wonderful again tonight! I liked Adam best at first but Kris lit my fuse with “Aint no Sunshine” If you listen to the original “Falling Down” from Once you will love his version of it even more. He sung it with such feeling and awesome falsetto! I wish he could have done more of the song. Adam and Danny are my next favorites followed by Allis and then Lil.

It’s heating up a little now. Allison, Danny, Kris and Adam were good but in MY OPINION, Anoop killed em all tonight. Matt is treading on thin ice and Lil, it’s her time to go. Lil hasn’t progressed at all since she first auditioned.

anoop was definately the best tonight, lil rounds can say goodbye and farewell because she is gone! adam, as others said was a big screaming festival. kris did okay. in my opinion matt did a really good job, allison i liked but it wasn’t my favorite.

I think that anoop doing ok but just ok…. alison was really good yesterday, danny was really good and he isnt playing his simpathy card… every one that goes on american idol had a story like megan who had a devorced just befor american idol…., Adam was good but just a littl to much screaming. Lil was really bad i dont think she will make it through tonight. every one else was ok as well.

Adams performances always amaze me. He is incredibly talented. No one else on the show has the vocal range and control that he has. He could have chosen to blow his unbelievable pipes week after week, but instead continues to choose songs that show how multi dimesional he is. Matt, Kris, Danny, and Anoop can hit their falsetto notes on a good night, but often have pitch problems. I could see several of the contestants singing the national anthem at the super bowl, but there is only one contestant that could do the half time show. Adam is the only one that could do it. Why? Because he is THEATRICAL! He puts on a show EVERTIME. So does every other top grossing rock star. He is no “one trick pony.”

IT’S a singing competition not a modeling career. He was a little pitching more than usual tonight just like others do on some nights. Hope your safe tonight Matty!

Lil was frustrated and got a little defensive with the judges because she was trying to ‘be an artist’ and put her own signature on the song. The arrangement with the R&B, gospel take was very good, but unfortunately, she was all over the place with the pitch. Someone like Melinda Doolittle would have taken that arrangement and, as they say, slain it. Too bad, because I think she’ll go this week. Too many blown chances….As for Adam–what an amazing performer! Each week we watch in anticipation of his incredible creativity and ability. He’s not my style at all, but you can’t deny that he has something phenominal going….

personally, i think that Adam is totally talentless….he comes across as condesending and arrogant..i see nothing special about his vocals…sure he can hit the high notes (probably broke a few glasses as well with his high pitches) but i see nothing exceptional about his voice. HOWEVER having said that, i dont think anyone else feels as i do about this guy so he’ll probably go on thru to the very end..i only hope that he doesnt win. now remember, everyone has a right to their opinion, so dont start badmouthing and instulting me..THE GUY’S VOICE IS NOTHING SPECIAL…ALL HE DOES IS HIT HIGH NOTES, WINKS AT THE CROWD AND WORKS THE CROWD AND THE AUDIENCE GOES CRAZY..SORRY, THAT TO ME IS NOT TALENT. As for this week’s elimination, i do think lil will probably be eliminated. she has a decent voice but i feel that she doesnt use it to her best advantage…she should put her personality into her songs, not the personality of whosever song she chooses to sing. so i think it will be lil…

I think Matt is the best on there and also the hottest. I think Lil, Kris, and Alison will be in the bottom three. Lil will go. Brandi, I agree with you, why do people hate Matt because of the thing on his forehead. Anoop is the bomb,too. But, of course Matt is the best, I think he will make it to the end.

I don’t kris in the bottom 3.I cried when he sang Falling Slowly.Why?I’m maniac songs from the movie.I knew the song that Kris sang.It is not picth problem in the beginning.It is a style of singing.Kris done well.N i just blown away.I’m sick to see Lil’ destroyed a beautiful song ‘The Rose’.You know that?Did everyone in this blog ever hear Westlife version of ‘The Rose’?That’s a million times better than Lil’ version.Lil’ hope u’ll vote off.

WHAT!! Matt is weak….everyone BUT one will be eliminated! The save was for the judges benefit. I do not trust panel or AI anylonger. This is my last year for watching. I really think that RYAN should be voted off….he would not receive a “save” from the judges. But shame on AI for pissing at voters’ decision. People should quit voting….it up to the fab four anyway.

This is my problem Leeann. Like Anne said the save was for the judges benefit. AI is now so focused on how they can change things up that they have lost the essences of the show. I don’t agree with them saving ANY contestant. Matt is talented but I’m not sure he will be able to pull off disco. Hey Leeann why don’t you make some song suggestions for Matt to sing next week. I have poured through songs and I can’t come up with something that I think his range of voice will be able to shine. I sincerely would love some suggestions. I just have not heard alot of disco songs with the rich gravely voices. I think that Allison, Danny, and Matt are going to have a hard time showcasing their unique voices. The most well known voices of disco have a wide range and they have great falsetto, BeeGees; Earth, Wind, and Fire; Donna Summer; and the Jacksons. Although I am not a Lil fan, I think that she could do a Donna Summers song that might pull her through. I’m not a hater of any of the contestants. Matt even said he would have sung it different and in fact he did last night. If it is a show about the audience voting for their AI, it should stay that way.

Leeann, I think that I found some songs that Allison, Danny, and Matt could do very well with. Rick James’ “Super Freak”, “Turn the Beat Around”, Amii Stewart “Knock on Wood”, Lime “Babe We’re Gonna Love Tonight”, KC and The Sunshine Band “Get Down Tonight”. Allison could do a good job with Jackie Moore’s “This Time Baby”.

To LB I know you say you are not hating ….but you are.I think Allison is the best and I think evry one knows that even Simon.And I think the judges had to step in to save Matt,lil is really the one who should have been let go.And I will tell you why,she sucked the whole time she has been on,and you are right if she hits one out of the ball park,she will end up in the top three,to me that would be unfair.That is why we need judges to prevent this type of crap.

To Tony G,Your last entry showed that you are the one hating. I have never said that matt sucks or have tried to tear him down. Please re read entries 49 and 50. Let me state this again. My problem is with the judges using the save on any contestant. If the people are to vote the next AI, then the judges are snubing the noses of every one whom is voting. Every week I sincerely hope every contestant blows the audience and the judges away. It takes courage from all of them. If you go back and read all my entries, you will see that I have never made personal attacks on ANY OF THE CONTESTANTS! Unlike your statement that “Lil should have been let go because, because she sucked the whole time she has been on.” In fact having a strong background in music, I have spent hours trying to find songs that will showcase these contestants’voices. I listed those picks in my previous posting.I want all the the contestants to have the moment where they each come out every week and do a great job. On the other hand your comments consistently tear down the contestants you think “suck and have no right to be there and they need to go. Why do you feel that you need to tear the other contestants down? I have never attack any of them personnaly. I simply stated what Simon said when he acknowledged the disco theme will be challenging for some of them. Please tell me I said that made me a hater. Historically disco week is going to be tough for the contestants.

I think the person that wins is the one that is consistant and that can sing anything you put in front of them…I think Allison and Adam have been best throughout. Danny and Matt are really good as well, but I don’t think they should win. Adam has an amazing stage presence and so does Allison. As far as Allison’s look…that is who she is and remember, she is only 16.

LB, do you think Matt will leave this week? Hes is by far the best idol on season eight. GO MATT!!! Matt needs more fans. I hope Matt will make it to the end, but I think with this week being a double elimination that every contestant will have to do their best. I think Matt will try his best week and put all his effort into it. Who knows Matt might make it to the end. I think disco will be hard for everyone on there. Leeann, I do think he will be leaving. He has been in the bottom 3 twice(?) before. Here is the statistics, I think your bottom 3 will be Anoop, Matt, and Lil. When you are in the bottom 3 consistantly, it means you don’t have the viewer fan base. Now that the “save” is used it will be interesting. This week will be having the contestants walking through land mines. With disco, it will be really hard to change the most popular disco songs to something else entirely. Remember that Adam already proved himself when he did Funky Town. Adam might take a huge risk and try to sing the mellow version of “Why Can’t We Live Together” sung by Shaun Escoffery. My guess is that whatever contestant gets first pick might want to go with something like this to try and set themselves apart. It would be a real risky move. The question is who is going to try and double down, but I don’t think this is the week to take a huge risk. They all need to capture the audience with their performances.

Thanks for your opinion LB. I think that the judges will do watever they can to save Matt, myself. I think that he will pick a song to sing that will impress his fans, and I think he will even try to impress Simon. I think Matt would do a good job with a song from the Bee Gees. I agree that the bottom three will be Lil, Anoop and Matt, but I think the judges will do whatever they can to get rid of Lil and Anoop. I think Matt has the groove to get through disco this week.Come on Matty, you can pull disco off, good luck. The save will put more confidence into Matt. GO MATT!!!! VOTE FOR MATT!!!!!!

Totally agree with you again Leeann! I’m having alittle more confidence that Matt won’t be in the bottom 3 cause of what happened with the save. Like Ryan said “Idol History” Good for Matt G, way to make an impression. Bee Gees song would be great with his voice. Would be good to put Simon’s words in his face about not being able to win the competition (so arrogant) Just like Ryan said great buzz kill Cowell about the double elimination and disco week. Brandi, I am so happy I have someone to agree with me. I think Matt will do his best to impress his fans and the judges on disco week. I think that Matt was treading on thin ice last week, but I honestly think that Matt might even make it to the top three, he definantly has the confidence to make it there. The Bee Gees will be perfect for Matt. I know that Matt is very capable of doing it, he is capable to do anything if he sings from his heart. His voice is the most beautiful voice that is on American Idol this season. Every Matt Giraud fan out there, when you vote this week, call his number and vote for him 100 times. To LB The save was not for the judges benefit,I would have done the same thing.Its a game ,contest,not an election for president of the U.S..I like Matt,but not voting for him,if possible.Allison,Danny,and Mike may have a hard time with disco, but I think Allison can pull it off with her stong naturall talent.But here is my problem,I did not mean to hurt any ones feelings,just being realistic.If we follow your logic and lil does a good job in disco, therefore what? now we know she can do one thing good.As for the judge thing again they did the right thing.I understand your point,the will of the voter, but that is why we have judges,referees,supervisors,etc….to make sure things dont get a little salty.Not evryone is going to perform good each week. I do have some musical background also.Im not trying to be mean here,but on the other handwhen you have a weak performer time and again,that person shold be let go, even you can not deny that can you.We will have to wait until Tuesday and wesneday to find out who is right and wrong. Until then stay true to the game.

Tony G, from your own thoughts that Matt is more of an R &B singer this is why I think that he will be in the bottom 3..I think that we will see the same bottom 3 as last week based upon fan voting from the prior 4 weeks. I really can’t wait to see what songs they choose. I think that Adam will dominate. Many of the disco greats showcase the artists’ falsetto voices. Adams falsetto is lethal when deployed. I have heard some great falsetto notes from the other male contestants, but which ones could sustain it through an entire song? Tony, with you having a music background, what would be your song choices for the male contestants?

Leeann, I know you and I will be voting like crazy on Tuesday nite for Matt. I definitely liked Matt from the first time he auditioned all through his idol performances. So happy when he made it thru the wildcard. Always sounded awesome to me. I’m gonna check out that site you said and see what Simon said because at first he really didn’t want to save Matt from his comment about not winning the competition, but I guess he was out numbered and it probably wouldn’t have been a great move on his part. Also, check out Matt’s interview on American Idol Extra when he was being interviewed about the save. He was so humble about the whole thing. Good job Matt !

LB I think that Allison and Matt have a good chance at this, yes I know Matt is strong in the R&B side, and even though he does not have a strong Falsetto,I think he can hit just enough high notes to pull through.I would pick Disco Nights, by GQ for Matt good disco song he would not have to hit to many high notes,just keep the groove,create an energy,and if he could work with the band to give the song some flavor,I can seem him pulling this one off. Allison should just bring the heat,and her flavorto the table and I think she will do fine.Im not sure about Adam,not a big fan,he trully is a one trick pony,as someone else said.I cant quite put my finger on Adam,but there is something with that guy that just does not work for me,its all so rocky horror for me.I think he is a one trick pony sorry.

Tony G, so you think that Matt can make it through this week? I know he can, he has the power in his voice to pull this one off. So, you think that Matt can stay out of the bottom three this week, with it being double eliminations? Tony G, I totally agree with you on Adam, I am not a fan of him either, having a music background, do you think Adam can pull disco off? I hope you are safe tonight Matty. Good Luck! I originally thought it would come down to Allison and Adam but since last week I have included Matt who I think deserved to be saved! (for different reasons, Matt.s hot)

Leeann I think he has a chance if he picks a real good song that fits his voice,again a real good song for Matt would be Disco nights by GQ.I hope Allison picked agood song also, Got to Be Real by cheryl lynn would be good for Allison,as for the rest we will have to see.Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

Terrible show of racism by the Show followers. Nothing wrong with Anoop. He is better than Matt and those who have expressed their joy at him being saved last week, should get their ears checked. Please people listen to that performance and see for yourselves. The show should not be called American Idol, It should be “Simon’s Idol” or “Idol for Tone Deaf”.

I think we now have the most talented left. If they ALL sing well next week, it will be very interesting. My favorites are still Adam and Allison, but Kris and Matt have great talent and bring their own into their music which is really important. Looking forward to the show next week!
