American Idol 2009 Top 7 Part 2 Performances Tonight
April 21st, 2009 American Idol, Performances, Season 8,Tonight on American Idol 2009, the Top 7 performers will once again get behind the mic and sing songs from a time before theirs. Yes, that’s right. It’s Disco week again. Ah well.
I still can’t tell if one of the 3 Disco singers from Wednesday’s results night will be mentoring, but I hope someone is there to point them in the right direction!
Let’s start hearing some guesses on who will be this week’s top performer. Be sure to vote in the American Idol Top 7.1 poll and then leave your comments below to battle it out for your favorite!

I cant wait to see adam perform here tonight our time. I live in the philippines but i been an american idol fan and adam lambert is my favorite.
i hope he will win this season 8 and be the greatest american idol.

Ok, here’s what I don’t get. It’s Disco night-
Lil - sounded awful - didn’t pull off anything.
Chris - he was ok can sing, but there’s something with his jaw that distracts me idn
Allison - to me she justs screams
Danny - ok performance - not a fav of mine anyway
Adam - solid - but this is what I don’t get its DISCO night - way toooo dramatic, the song was disco, the performance ?????
Matt - always sounds GREAT to me - he atleast did the disco performance ALWAYS enjoy Matt
Anoop - safe performance
With that said -
I think it was a hard night for everyone.
But hope again, it’s Lil and Anoop.
Matt was way better than the two of them to go home. VOTE VOTE MATT !!!

Wow, Simon was totally playing on Anoop to make people believe that Anoop need to go home. Anoop did a very good job tonight. Who is going home tomorrow, One is definitely Lil, not sure for the second one, they all did kind of O.K.

Sib - Danny sang September by Earth, Wind, & Fire. I don’t remember all the comments but I think Simon said something similar to kareokee, but I’m not sure.

The song ‘ If i cant have you’ moved me to tears. what an incredible voice. I thought he would sing stayin’ alive….. but nonetheless, adam lambert showed another great performance.
i was kind of weeping here, so glad he again brought to us viewers such a beautiful and flawless rendition.
i love you adam lambert, my idol!!!!

Paging Adam Lambert- please sing the song ” Breathe Easy” by Blue. You got a strong vocals and i know you will sing better than Duncan Thomas. This is one of my fave songs……

Branndi I agree with you,except for Adam,and allison.I think Adam is really overated,he is a good performer,but I really dont think his singing is unique.Its almost as if he knows he won.Almost does not really have to do anything,because the judges have already crowned him the king.Something is wrong with this picture.Allison is much stronger, and it is weird that 3 out of the four judges keep sayiny you sing good….but…, how ever when Simom talks about her he is the only one who knows what he is talking about,tonight he said she was fantastic, go figure.I really think she has what it takes to be a real star,time is on her side,Adam however,will fade pretty quick.The reat of the performers where just ok, nothing exciting.Agian when Allison slowed down the tempo of her song,Randy said that was a bad idea,but when everybody eles did the same ,they were credited…why? Again something does not add up!

Brandi, I thought Matt rocked the house last night. He did great.
Matt- The best on there, will go nowhere this week.
Adam- O.k. just really boring.
Lil- Her time to go, Bye bye
Alison- will be joining Lil and Anoop in the bottom three tonight.
Anoop- hes a goner, bye bye
Kris- o.k., with singing a Donna Summers song.
Danny- not so good, I wish he would go.

Yeah Leeann well said! Matt did rock the house with his performance, but then Simon again had to bust his bubble by saying he should get out of idol land, over did the performance WTH I think its tough for contestants when Adam, as one said already has the crown by the judges, to perform without getting some bad comments. But then again, Paula and Kara are always pulling for Matt. Should be safe tonight Matt G. If he goes home im done.

Yeah Tony G, Adam will fade. I mean the guys like what 29 and he’s just NOW trying out for AI. Most others are either real young 16 or in their early 20’s. Adam should have been there done that already. Same with Gokey (hokey), sorry just my opinion.

One frustrating thing about Adam is that he is not an amateur. He has been on stage in “Wicked”, therefore he has already had opportunity…very conceited individual…shame on the judges for not remarking on his musical theatre performance because that is what it is.

Very clear that the judges exagerated on the bad and good comments tonight just to ensure their favorites dont go home with a double elimination.
I was disappointed with Adam - it is a disco night, what is the balad about? He should have sung “More than a Woman” (Bee Gees).

In my humble opinion, here is my order in terms of tonight performances:
1 - Kris
2 - Danny
3 - Adam
4 - Matt
5 - Allison
6 - Anoop
7 - Lil
But the top three at the end will be Adam, Danny and Allison

Hey Brandi and Tony G., singers don’t have expiration dates. For example Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Rolling Stones, Brooks and Dunn, George Strait, and Neil Diamond. All of them are still making big bucks and most of them have sung at the super bowl half time. That being said, I thought Lil looked great,but her voice had pitch problems. Kris showed he will do very well in the business. He has shown who he is as an artist. He was great. Danny did a great job and got the audience going. I think Allison is a fabulous singer with a unique voice, but her song choice and arrangement were awful last night. Adam knows how to sing. He continues to wow the fans. I love him. He is the only contestant whom acknowledges the band and the band loves him for it. Matt’s song choice is what is going to do him in. Listen to it again and you will hear that the backup singers out sung him in places. Sorry, I love him too, but I don’t think he doubled down and he really needed to this week. When Anoop started singing I thought wow this is going to be great until the tempo picked up. I think he has great vocals. So my guess for the bottom 3 based on last night will be Lil, Matt, and either Anoop or Danny. I worry that Danny might have peaked too soon. I hope not. But the judges were right when they said that this is the most talented group that has been on so far. I think there will be a place for every one of them. No matter what, Brandi, Matt will have a great career in front of him. His voice is unique and I’m sure there are song writers dying to have him sing their songs!

Brandi, I totally agree with you. Matt is the only one I care to listen to. All the others in my opinion arent near as good as Matt. Next week, if Matt makes it through tonight, which there is no reason why he shouldnt, I mean his preformance was totally amazing, I think is gonna be a week where they let you sing what you want. Matt would totally do a good job tonight. LB, I know, it sounds like I want to be hateful but I promise I am not. But Matt did double down last night. Ron, I totally agree with you that it is Lil and Anoop’s time to go, they are awful. Brandi, I know that you probably agree, but whats Simon’s problem with Matt? I think that Matt can make it through tonight. When I checked the voting polls earlier today, on Americanidol.com, it showed that Matt had the second highest votes, with Lil having the highest. I hope that there will be a suprise upset, and Allison and Danny will leave, but I doubt it. Brandi, I hope you are right and Adam does fade pretty soon. So with that said, Bye Bye Lil and Anoop. I think the top three will be Allison, Kris, and Matt.

i’m glad to see that i’m not the only one who thinks adam is completely overrated….nothin special about his vocals…he is condecending and tries to act humble when the judges critique him. he has a nothing special voice and i really hope that he gets eliminated or at the very least doesnt end up in the no. 1 spot. he sings as tho he’s on the broadway stage…go home adam, youre boring.

Sandra, How has Adam exhibited conceit? By shaking hands with the musicians on stage with him after “Tracks of My Tears” or when he acknowledged that his performance would not have been as good without Ricky and the band or was it when he gave credit to Michael Orland for the collaborative effort in the “If I Can’t Have You” arrangement, or maybe is it his thanking the judges with respect each week? Every contestant has the access to the brilliant music director, Michael Orland, for their arrangements each week. There has never been so much speculation about the “life” of an american idol contestant than Adam. I think what you are seeing is a young man who is trying to keep the contest focused on singing and nothing else. It is a singing competition and any speculation or talk of ANY of the contestants private life SICKENS me!

I dont see anything wrong with adam’s behaviour. In fact, he look so cute, very respectful, always smiling and he would definitely be a good role model for kids out there with his outstanding behaviour.
this is what an idol should be, no pretensions, great singing voice, and above all, a humble and respectful person who is very pleasant to look at always.
the person who is rightful to own a place in the american idol history is no other than adam lambert. im not american but i love adam lambert since day one. i watched his you tube videos many times esp. on his screen test and the songs he sang there were all outstanding.
go go go adam lambert, you shouldnt be an american idol only but an international idol!!!!! you won my heart here in the philippines.

Japanka, You might want to check out Adam’s videos with other males. I too, do not like to bring peoples personals lifestyles out there, to each his own, but believe me you do not want your kids to have this, as you put it, outstanding behavior.

Hey LB Sure some singers have experation dates.You are right about the legends,but surely you are not saying Adam is a legend are you?.You have to look at the demographics of the people who like these type of entertainers.Which I like by the way.But the majority of the people who like these type of entertainers are white, so you would have to admit if there were more African Americans,and more Mexican Americans then you would be wrong,its all Elementry.That being said Lil looked good, but again she was weak.Kris will do good in certain areas of the music world.Danny not bad, but not good,the same basically.Allison was great as far as her voice goes,music could have been a little better,but keep in mind what Simon said about her,terrific.I do not put to much stalk as far as the other judges go,I dont need to explian.Simon is right on the mark.As far as Adam,he knows how to sing if you are a fan of broaway plays and musicals.He is a broadway star.I think he is overated,sorry.Matt should have picked a better song.Anoop is good,but not star quality.I agree with the bottom three tonight.I will put my money on Allison,she is stong with natural talent,I think she will be the next Kelly Clarkson,Carrie Underwood,ect……Even if she does not win the contest,I really think people know she is going to be a star.

I’m thinking maybe Simon’s a little jealous that maybe Paula likes Matt more than she likes HIM??? lol I also hope your right about the voting poles. A really BIG upset would be another great show tonight like last week. Like Kris but not really that crazy about Allison (sorry)

Tony G, I was referring to Brandi’s reference to his age, but he does have the potential to be one. Musical artist pay big bucks to add theatrics, aka. music videos, to their performances. As for the comment that the stars will do better when they can choose their own songs, look at what Kris did with a “disco” song. Great artist can spin a song to their own style. Whether you like the style or not you know who they are as an artist. I think that is the frustration with Matt. I just want him to own each song he sings. He just needs to take these songs and create his unique “hook”. A minority of well known musicians write their own songs, but they have the ability to choose songs that emotionally(whatever emotion that might be)connect with their audiences. It is very rare that every song on an artist’s album is a number one hit unless the album is their “greatest hits.” The legends are those whom tend to consistantly produce huge hits. In some cases it is the song not the artist that produces the star. Those songs usually have a strong hook in them. Rueben studdert won AI, but name 5 songs that made the top 100 charts. You have to have a complete package. The real AI winner will be the one that has the ability to choose songs that connect with their fans and time will eventually determine who the AI really is. I think we have some strong contestants that can make that happen. Hopefully we will have multiple winners!

Tony G, I do agree with that logic. And essentially Matt’s strong point is R&B. But I really couldn’t see someone like Michael Buble pulling disco off either. Like you say, their all good artists, with the except of one or two. I’m just saying.

Happy to see Lil & Anoop go. Just wish Scott had not been sent home so soon the boy could sing. Kris is gonna win.

Did anyone else think that David Archuletta’s performance was a little flat tonight? Even the guest performers struggled. It makes me think that the theater and the sound crew factor into the contestants performances more than I thought. You could hardly hear KC. I agree with the eliminations tonight. All of the remaining contestants are all very talented. Does anyone know what next weeks theme will be?

I am so happy that Matt was safe last night. Brandi, I am sure that you agree. I think next week will be an easy week for all the preformers, being a week that the contestants can pick what they want to sing, and they dont have a certain thing they have to sing. LB, next weeks theme is going to be a commercial week, where the contestants get to pick whatever they want to sing. LB, I agree that all the rest of the preformers on there are very talented. WAY TO GO MATT!!!

I cant believe you guys like Matt, he reminds me of Vince Vaughn (the breakup and wedding crashers). He is not good looking.
Um he tries to be Justin Timberlake except that he CANNOT “enunciate” his words (just like Tarantino said to do for the movie night performance). (enunciate means to pronounce each word CLEARLY).
What he needs to do is instead of mumbling is work on his voice - punch the words out! Nice and clear.
To me, Adam is the clear winner, thats right he is far more experienced and knows how to put on a show, and takes HUGE risks (none of the rest really do). Unless that Allison girl sings Bonnie Tyler’s song “Total Eclipse of the Heart” song. If she sings that song - then I would give it to her. ADAM or ALLISON, shame that LIL didnt bring it.

Rebecca, I’m talking about Matt’s performance as a singer, not as a actor(as YOU say not good looking)Vince Vaugh??? His voice is rapsy, sexy as a R&B and well sung. Brings it on the stage each and every time. His Staying Alive performance ROCKED. But he also is a cutie!!!But that’s not the point I’M making. As for “enunciate” if I don’t know Allison’s song before she sings, I’m lost cause she never finishes her words. I never hear or understand Kris’s words either, too week. Matt G FTW !!!!!!
