American Idol 2009 Top 5 Performances Tonight
April 28th, 2009 American Idol, Performances, Season 8,Update: The performances are over so now is your chance to vote and tell everyone who was your favorite of the night.
Tonight on American Idol 2009, the Top 5 performers will take to the stage and perform old, old songs from the sixties with Rat Pack classics. After weeks of modern songs we’re being hit with more old songs because nothing proves you can be a modern pop singer like pulling off 50 year old songs…
I wouldn’t expect any mentors from the Rat Pack to be there because, well, that would require a lot of Ouija boards.
Paula Abdul revealed that Jamie Foxx, the guy who told Miley Cyrus she should use heroin, put some crack in her pipe, and make a sex tape, will be this week’s mentor. Isn’t that lovely.
Let’s start hearing some guesses on who will be this week’s top performer. Be sure to vote in the American Idol Top 5 poll and then leave your comments below to battle it out for your favorite!

What! They can’t find someone to mentor them at the last minute…oh please I am sure someone in the music business would love to step up to the plate in place of Jamir Foxx…I would have suggested someone like Harry Connick Jr. Come on Idol you can do better then this. I say that Adam is really going to bring it this week (Again)…hold on tight….the end is almost near.

Jamie Fox is an insult to all decent people. His comments about an innocent young woman were unconscionable, but what really gets to me is the double standard that exists in media. If a white comedian were to say similar things about a black celebrity they wouldn’t get a gig selling cigarettes at the county fair, much less appearing on a highly rated network television show. I am absolutely certain that none of the producers of this show would tolerate a white racist on your show. I wondered what you would do to keep the black audience after Lil Rounds was lost but now I can see that you all had a strategy after all. Well you can pass this little message on to Jamie. I’m sure there are plenty of ho’s and junky’s in his old neighborhood if that’s what he wants to see. Perhaps he could help some of them climb out of that hole.
I did not watch this episode and will not watch the rest of the series, SEE YA!

Suzanne you were right. I had to hold on to my seat cause I thought my tv screen was going to break from that one note Adam screamed. It lasted forever. ugh What’s up with the white shiny suit? Looked like a fruitcake. (sorry) The rest looked handsome in a traditional dark suit that suited the theme for tonight. Way too theactical.

Adam Lambert is clearly in a league of his own, in this competition. An entirely different class.
All the other performers always seem to have parts of the song that just leave you completely uninterested.
Nothing really special about their voices. So, special that it would sell out an arena.
Perhaps, Allison.
Would Matt Giraud sellout Madison Square Garden?
I really don’t think so.
Would Kris Allen? I really don’t think so.
Would Danny Gokey? I really don’t think so.
Allison? I don’t know about Madison Square Garden but I could see her selling some big shows.
Adam Lambert could probably sellout a show tomorrow if there was one.

Could someone please let me know what song Danny sings tonight & how he goes please.
I’m in Sydney & I wont get to see it till later on tonight.
Thank you !!

Adam is the best singer ever on AI. His studio version of “If I Can’t Have You” is the finest song I’ve ever heard! I’ve listened to it at least 100 times today. GO ADAM LAMBERT!!!
April 28th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
Hey, Hey, Check it out! I’m over 50, happily married, and have seen the best of Idol for the past 8 seasons. Quite frankly, Adam Lambert leaves me wanting more…and more. He is the most dynamic, pure performer Idol has seen to date. Hollywood, what were you thinking?! You blew it big time on this “jewel.” He had been knocking on your door (for months/years)and it only took a bit of exposure from a TV to put him in touch with millions…which is what he’ll be taking all the way to the bank. You go guy…you deserve it!
April 28th, 2009 at 11:02 pm
Sib, Danny sang Come rain or Come Shine. He sang 4th. The judges were pretty generous with everyone tonight.
April 28th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
Thank you so much Brandi, I can always count on you !!!!.
How did he go ?
April 28th, 2009 at 11:21 pm
To George and Suzanne. Jamie Foxx, an insult to all descent people because he said something about Miley Cirus. Let’s get real. First of all Jamie started off as a comedian. Most comedians insult people. He is also a talented mega movie star who recieved a grammy for his portrayal of Ray Charles. He has a degree in classical music. Secondly, how many black superstars do you see on the red carpet to talk about. The industry does not represent the diversity of the United Stated at all. Thirdly, come on, Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers to name a few. Can’t sing a lick. It’s just the truth. And as far as Adam is concerned, no, not much on singing, showmanship ok but singing no. The question should have been ask a couple of weeks ago, what is a movie director doing giving vocal lessons?

Adam Lambert est dans une classe à part! Du jamais vu! L’artiste entre tous des American, Canadian Idols, Star Académie… Vraiment extraordinaire, superbe, le WOW FACTOR à son paroxisme! GO ADAM GO!
Une fan conquise de 50 ans.
April 28th, 2009 at 11:59 pm
Adam Lambert…….he is the best in this group. He is the next american idol!
April 29th, 2009 at 12:01 am
Your welcome Sib! Although I’m not a big Danny fan (sorry)Matt’s my guy, the judges really all seemed to be impressed with his performance tonight. I think one of them said, I’m not sure who, that it was one of his best performances. Simon even said he thought Danny, Adam and Matt came out singing tonight like they were in it to win.
April 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am
Brandi dont be sorry.
Thank you so much for the info,
your the best !!
April 29th, 2009 at 12:25 am
Rhonda Thank You,I have been trying to say what you said. The Industry does not represent all ethnic groups and frankly thats not fair. The majority of watchers are white, and the majority of all the winners on IA are white. Nothing wrong with that just the way it is.Until the playing field is even,we wont see Allison win, even though she is really the best. And after tonight how can any one doubt her performance, flawless.I am going to down load her performace now.
April 29th, 2009 at 1:26 am
To those who are going all out for Adam. Uhmmm, just want you to recheck and review all his performances. He’s nothing but a screamin’-superstar-wannabe who’s too exaggerated in his performances. Sad thing, numerous people are feeding his ego. Quite frankly, if he wins, a lot of “guys” who think they can sing and are currently working for a circus will be queuing up for the next AI auditions.
April 29th, 2009 at 1:55 am
You hit it right on Miley! That guy is a psycho!
April 29th, 2009 at 2:25 am
I think when it comes to voting, it reflects
your preference. An idol means something you put
into pedestal. An idol must possess qualities looks, talent, genuine, wholesome that can be
a role model to the younger generation ….
Danny and Kris possesses those qualities !!!!
their songs & the way they sing is very soothing to the soul.
April 29th, 2009 at 7:54 am
Oh Miley,
You sound so bitter! Adam is surely talented and to deny it makes you look petty. Sorry that his talent is overshadowing your contestant, whomever she or he may be.
April 29th, 2009 at 10:46 am
Question…. why is Adam Lambert always lit up from behind for the slow numbers - his face always in shadow? Is he, just maybe, perhaps, not as good in the skin department as he would like to be…. ? He is compulsive viewing though, the only one I watch again and again every week.
April 29th, 2009 at 11:25 am
Thought Matt was awesome tonight, authentic like Simon said. Did completely different from what he usually does. Isn’t that the point? Actually Simon wasen’t hating on him like usual, and i think he actually picked on Kris saying his performance was wet?? Hope your safe tonight Matt and it’s Allison that goes!
April 29th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Branddi Matt was not awesome,he made three mistakes as he was singingin retrospect,he should have never been saved in the first place. All the other guys played it safe, how ever Allison was flawless, sad to hear Simon make the comments that he did.If Allison is voted off, many people will vote for Adam not because they like him but rather because they do not like him,its all so crazy, but I will be voting for Adam cause matt not good.
April 29th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
I am not a huge fan of AI, but have followed this yr from the beginning, and while Danny and Allison are both great singers, ie, strong on vocals and truly have an ear for music, anyone that has followed the music industry can (or should) without a doubt be able to see and hear that Adam Lambert is truly one of the most gifted singers to come along in many yrs. For anyone that has followed singers in the the rock genre, I equate him with the vocally untouchable Ian Gillan, lead singer for Deep Purple. Rock on Adam…..
April 30th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
Teri can I ask you how old you are? I dont think any one remembers those groups you have mentioned,I do,but this is pop music, get with it man.Allison is the best she has a rock edge that makes adam look like a40 year old trying to be a 12 year old its really kind of scary just the same.
April 30th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
Brandi, how did you feel the other night about Matt leaving. I was really mad, I will not watch it the rest of the season, just because the best, and the one with the most talent left last night. I was hoping that Adam would go, since he was in the bottom two, but the judges did whatever possible, to keep Adam in the top four, so he wouldn’t win. I had my hopes up that Matt was going to be safe last night, but us Matt fans, didn’t vote for him near like we should have. Why do the judges always want to take up for Adam? He sure is no where near the best one on there. His sounding the same every week is totally getting irritating. Adam, next week is his time to go, he sucks. Tony G, whats your problem, I think Matt was pretty good to make it to the top five with a wild card. Alexis was not even a wild card and she left way before Matt. Well, Matt good luck with your career, see you in June for the tour. I know you will make something of yourself. I think that with next week being Rock and Roll week, that Kris will struggle. EVEN THOUGH MATT IS NO LONGER ON THE SHOW, HE IS STILL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
April 30th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
Leeann,Sorry for being a bit revengeful.Matt will still be a star, how big who knows.I think his last performance in my humble opion, was not his best.I counted at least 4 mistakes.Im not trying to be mean,he had several times to show his best and wasted two of those chances.I hope you dont stop watching, follow with us to see who will finally.Like I said all the time,Allison is the one to watch, she is getting better with every show, and the other people have stayed the same. Again Im sorry Matt left I know you wanted him to win.
May 1st, 2009 at 5:28 am
Now that MATT is eliminated i’d go for KRIS… if Kris gets booted out i’d go for ADAM or ALISON and never with Gokey…
Danny will just end up like Taylor and Ruben if he’d be the AI for this year… a total loser in the charts!!!!
May 1st, 2009 at 5:39 am
slb
DANNY sucked :p same old same old each week argghhhhhh
May 1st, 2009 at 9:53 am
Tony G, you are fine, I will have to agree that if I continue watching this show that I will pull for either Allison or Danny, Idc which one wins, but these two will now get my votes. There is no way I will vote for Adam, I can’t stand him. God, why couldn’t Matt have just made it through last week? Just like I said above, I am sure that Adam got the least votes, the judges just pimped him up so he can win, but like I said now that Matt is gone, I will pull for Allison or Danny, as long as Adam dosen’t win. GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE MATT!!!!! I WILL MISS YOUR VOICE ON THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!
May 3rd, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Ohhhh TS…TS…TS…TSk TSk TSk
Defending Adam-halloween types is even pettier… I’m not going gaga for anyone in the show. You mentioning “overshadowing” is a dead giveaway that you’re also noticing how overacting and ridiculous the acts of Adam are. AI is never about overshadowing, it is about prevailing of “normal talent”. Uhm TS, one final note, I’m not bitter over Adam, I’m irritated, I’m irked, I’m annoyed…You reacting on my “opinion” makes you the bitter party here..
Oh TS.. TSk TSk. Pity…
