American Idol 2009 Top 13 Results Show - The Two Singers Eliminated Are…
March 11th, 2009 American Idol, Results, Season 8,Tonight on American Idol, the first elimination results of the 2009 Idol Top 13 were revealed.
So far the American Idol Top 13 Prediction Poll shows that nearly half of you think Anoop Desai will be eliminated! Anoop fans better step in there and show some support.
Ryan Seacrest has just revealed the new rule for this season of American Idol. From now until the Top 5, if the judges agree in unison they can save a singer from America’s elimination. They can only do this once for the season and then that week no one is eliminated, but the following week two singers will be sent home. What do you think of this new rule? I’m guessing it will never be used.
American Idol 2009 Top 13 Bottom 4:
- Jasmine Murray - Judges weren’t impressed with her ’sing for your Idol life’
- Megan Corkrey - Ryan revealed that she is safe this week
- Anoop Desai - Ryan revealed that he is safe this week

I think if there are going to eliminations that the judges should keep it a secret who. They should wait till the end or towards the end to reveal who is saved.
March 11th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
The saved should be a secret! Everyone knows that the judges only have one and they most likely won’t save till its gets towards the end.
March 11th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
I loved Jorge. But he’ll go home and be a star.
March 11th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
I think the new rule is a real cop-out. It gives the judges the right to overturn the peoples’ votes which is the basis of the whole show. Idon’t like it at all!
March 11th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
I think America got it right ! ! !
March 11th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
Jasmine should have not been eliminated late night. This season have some of the worst singers to ever be on the show. They just need to cancel the show.Jasmine being eliminated is one of the reasons I will stop watching the show.
March 11th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
“AMERICA” CAN’T HEAR AS USUAL!! YOU WOULD THINK THE MOTTO “YES WE CAN” WOULD ALSO TRICKLE TO PUERTO RICO!! AREN’T THEY KINDA PART OF OUR UNION??? Jorge don’t give up! You sound like an ANGEL when you sing!! and “YES YOU CAN” make your DREAMS come true! Hang in there!
March 11th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
I was happy w/ the decision and think they got it right!
March 11th, 2009 at 11:24 pm
Jasmine should not have been in the top 13 to begin with. I think America got it right with her. But, Jorge definitely was not worse than some of the other contestants that sang last night. They should have eliminated Megan!! She sounds horrible and she shouldn’t have been in there to begin with.
March 11th, 2009 at 11:36 pm
Megan is still there, Unbelievable!! What is she doing there? I am pretty sure she asking the same question to herself and America will and continue to surprise her
March 11th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
I think the new rule sucks!!! because the ones who are on the show now needs to go home, and 10 more new hopefuls should be picked. Because this seems to be the worst season ever,Lil rounds is the only one who can sing .
March 11th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
Lil Rounds should please consider wearing a lower heel. Seems her performance is hindered by those high heels. Anupe, needs to really bring it this time. Maybe his last chance. You can do this man! Danny is the man, all the way!
March 11th, 2009 at 11:57 pm
Oh what a night! I think Jasmine and Jorge shoud still be in the race. Megan on the othr hand should be out of there. She had the worse performance. I kije Anoop but Jasmine and Jorge did a way better job. I guess Lil Round will be next!!!! Then it would be the way the judges and the rest of America want it to be. I agree Dee Dee this will be the worst.
March 12th, 2009 at 12:02 am
I think jorge should have stayed over anoop, but 1 week more or less, neither one of them will win. The rule is good, I agree michael johns went too early last year. I do think they have lots of talent this year. Its gona be a shame to see so many leave, but they will all have success in their own right. That house gives them all extra incentive to stick around awhile.
March 12th, 2009 at 12:26 am
i love jasmine why would people not vote for her she is the best
March 12th, 2009 at 1:16 am
Why Megan stay & Jasmine go???
Adamn,is for me the best!
March 12th, 2009 at 1:19 am
Sure Adamn is “AI”!
March 12th, 2009 at 1:51 am
Jorge is gone, that’s correct. But, Anoop should have been gone as well. Allison is da’ bomb!!! She should win it all, but all you teenie bobber little girls will vote for “light in the loafers” ” I sing like a girl” Adam. Yuck!!!!!
March 12th, 2009 at 3:21 am
how could america not vote for jorge! =( he’s different!
March 12th, 2009 at 4:40 am
What a good group of talent –someone always has to be eliminated every week–to say that you made it into the Top 13 is really saying something. It really is all about song choices —not sounding karokey, and presentation. Jasmine and Jorge can always come back next year, right?
I do not like the new rule, but I can see it being used if someone say gets sick or hurt one week and they aren’t able to do their best.
March 12th, 2009 at 4:50 am
I personally like the new rule — because we could have another Sanjaya god forbid — America a lot of times votes on a popularity vote and not who is deserving of the title — besides you don’t have to win American Idol to have a career or a life — it is just ONE contest and not the only thing that exists - think let’s say - Jennifer Hudson, Daughtrey — if you are talented and have the “it” factor then you are going to make it no matter what. Christina Aguilera lost on Star Search when she was 9 to a little boy that no one even knows about now. Rosie O’Donnell lost on Star Search as well — you can’t be a loser just because you don’t win one contest — if that was the case then every athlete who lost would quit — and that is not how it works — you sometimes have to work years and years to “make it” — I personally have a cougar crush on Adam — his voice is incredible and yes it is very Broadway but who cares? He can star in any show and I would watch him — I love his voice and his stage presence — you can definately tell that he was in JC Superstar by his Black and White performance — but he is a star — winning this show or not — Jasmine definately deserved to go — Jorge I like a lot but did not live up to the game - I also like Megan’s quirky little voice — so stay tuned — next week is at hand!
March 12th, 2009 at 5:31 am
What is this fascination with Megan? The girl cannot sing and I hope she gets the boot next week. Talented people have been let go to keep her and I disagree with this 100%.
March 12th, 2009 at 7:42 am
Simon is ruining the show for me. He has become overly rude & his comments are not helpful, they’re just plain cruel. Simon, this is AMERICAN Idol. Go back to England!
March 12th, 2009 at 7:42 am
I think it was not a good choice letting Jorge go, he is different, he sings special. Jorge being eliminated, is going to be one good reason I will stop watching the show. It was so unfair, specially when Anoop was the worst of the night and still is there.
March 12th, 2009 at 7:54 am
Jorge is GAY!!!!!! waha!!!
March 12th, 2009 at 8:43 am
I thought Megan and Anoop should have been eliminated. Both gave horrific performances. Neither one are going to win it. I believe Danny should go all the way. I’m not convinced at this time that the performances given so far are fantastic. All the contestants need to bring it on.
March 12th, 2009 at 9:11 am
Why would you ever kick off someone with so much talent, heart and soul…a real idol is someone like Jorge, he is not your typical idol and thats why he would have deserved it the most out of everyone on that show. Maybe he’s better off without the show and I know I will not be watching this show anymore!
March 12th, 2009 at 9:27 am
I can’t believe people acually voted for Megan and that Jorge and Jasmine are gone. I felt embarrased for Megan. She can’t sing and she definitely has no rythm. The song was going one way and she was going another. I really hope she’s gone next week. Jorge might not have been the best but he deserved to stay on much longer. Lil Rounds, Allison and Adam are it.
March 12th, 2009 at 9:51 am
It sucks when you see much talent being whisked away fro fruition.Jasmine was way better than Megan, but next week belongs to you.Jorge, one small mistake and you gone! That is what we waiting on Anoop next week,he keeps on having some luck.
March 12th, 2009 at 10:20 am
I agree that Jorge and Jasmine are not the best but I think the worst performances this week was given by Michael, he and Megan should have gone home this week. Ultimately the battle will be between Adam and Allsion.
March 12th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Lil is the only one who can sing. The rest will probably go somewhere but, Megan is AWFUL and so is Anoop. Love the new rule because America votes for who is the best-looking and not on talent. Jorge and Jasmine have potential too. Can’t imagine anyone voting for Megan. She screams, no singing. Adam is so stuck on himself it’s pathetic, but he’s entertaining. Who sang Rockin’ Robin? She definitely needs to go too. Another vote for looks and not talent.
March 12th, 2009 at 11:35 am
These two were spot on. They can’t hang with the other singers.
March 12th, 2009 at 11:45 am
I don’t know why everyone complains about Simon. He at least speaks the truth about the singers. All the other judges try to sugar-coat it and spare peoples’ feelings. Just because they want something to be good doesn’t mean that it’s going to be, and telling them the truth will at least help them get far in the show. I haven’t seen Jasmine and Jorge get eliminated yet (we don’t get the show until tonight in England), but I’m sure I’ll agree with the judges.
And another thing, people in America always vote on looks, rarely on voice. Ruben Studdard won because he was good, but he’s not as big as Clay Aiken is, thus proving that looks get you places in the world, sadly.
And before anyone has a go at me, I am American, not some random Brit giving their prejudiced views on America.
March 12th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Well I thought Anoop & Jorge should have went home - them two sucked! Agreed that Jasmine wasn’t the best - but she was sure better than those two guys!
March 12th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Simon did not need to be rude to Jorge, he could have shown a little kindness. I think that the Judges should pick the songs for the final 13, or give them a list of 5 to choose from. This way the contestants don’t waste their time guessing which song the Judges will like. I also think comments made on the show should not be immodest in any way. This is a family show!
March 12th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
I THINK LAST NIGHT THE JUDGES WERE RIGHT IN RESERVING THEIR VOTE FOR ANOTHER NIGHT. JASMINE AND JORGE SHOULD HAVE GONE HOME.
March 12th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
I think the new rule is a blessing and a curse…If Jennifer Hudson would have been “saved” by the rule she would have been too committed to other things to win her Oscar and be as successful as she was BEFORE she even dropped her album, plus even with the rule she would have never been saved because Simon talked bad about her anyway. I say let the chips fall where they may–they are just doing way too much to try to make the show more interesting. Jasmine will be a big star she should have never been eliminated but that’s why it’s important for viewers to vote. It’s not like there aren’t millions of votes the judges comments already influence votes to a degree they shouldn’t get any thing else! After they save someone it seems like it would be a conflict of interest from that point on.
March 12th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I think that the way Jasmine was let go–being selected to stand down on the stage, while all the attention went to who else was going or staying, and then to tell her she was going, but she might have another chance to stay, and oh by the way, please sing for us again, thank-you, you’re going was completely inhumane and very unprofessional and inconsiderate to Jasmine. She had an excellent voice, was successful to make it this far, and deserves more respect than that.
March 12th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
I thought jorge should have stayed and anoop should have went home. jorge has a great voice.
March 12th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
I love Adam first, but I love Megan too. I think she is quirky, yet beautiful and memorable.
March 12th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
I was very disappointed with the two eliminations. I felt Anoop and Scott should have been the ones to go yesterday not Jasmine and Jorge. They are more talented. I felt America got it wrong.
March 12th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
I like Megan, she is different…. remember we are looking for folks that are marketable… I do not like the fact that Adam is a RINGER… he has already recorded… Anoup should have been gone… and the rules keep changing… if they want to change them have America vote for the one to kick off……
March 12th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
I am not a fan of Jasmine but I do feel that Megan should have gone home last night. My favorites are Danny , Adam and Allison. I think the three of them have great talent. I hope that Megan goes home soon.
March 12th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Jasmine should have stayed. Anoop and Megan should have been eliminated. That Megan is beautiful, should not be the reason to keep her around. Too bad Jorge had to go. I like the new rule. Well, they can only use it once. It prevents someone like Chris Daughtry being eliminated. If this rule were in place then, Chris would have won.
March 12th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Megan haters…. but I do think she should she have to go in the next 3 weeks … ADAM is a RINGER,,, and should not be in….
Jasmine, I agree should be still in
March 12th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
Jorge should be there they did’t give him a chance he demonstrated better vocals than Megan and Anoop. Totally disagree with the decicions made, anyway Anoop will leave next week and hope Megan too.
Jorge keep it up your the BEST and Boricua pa que tu lo sepas!!!! Puerto Rico lo hace mejor!!!!
March 12th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
I think America was right on the money! They were just not very good..at least that night!
March 12th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Anoop was pretty bad..he has just been given too many chances and seems to throw those away! I really think Danny Gokey is going to at least be in the top 3..and I do agree with everyone about Adam…He is good, but too good for this competition!
March 12th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
I am sorry to ses Jorge go. I think that he had great potential.
March 12th, 2009 at 8:56 pm
PLease America get rid of Anoop (Bobby Jindal) Desai, Scott and Sarver. Scott, please tell your stylists to do something with your hair. It is AWFUL. Almost as bad as Anoop’s and Sarver’s singing. PLease let this pain end…
March 12th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
People need to remember that this is American Idol, so you vote for the person who’s album you’ll buy, someone you will go see in concert. Seriously, pay attention or we are going to end up with another Taylor Hicks!!! Anoop, Scott or Michael should have gone b4 Jasmine!!!
March 12th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
To be honest, Scott didn’t sing well. Sorry! His story is compelling but he doesn’t sing with conviction. A little whimpy! Jasmine should go since she sang off keys. A good singer shouldn’t have problems to sing in tune. Her performance on Michael Jackson’s song was too robotic like Simon said. You got to feel the song and to be able to express it. Jorge was alright but Megan is one trick pony like Adam. I don’t know if Adam’s talent is diverse enough to sing anything other than the kind of rock style he has demonstrated so far. A good rocker needs to write their own songs; otherwise, he or she is at the songwriters’ mercy.
March 12th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
I don’t agree with the two that were eliminated, especially Jasmine. I thought Paula was totally incomprehensible in all her comments and just an embarrassment, and all of the judges seem to support the weird ones and pick favorites early on. I actually turned off the show as I thought the new changes were bad and disrepectful to the contestants and the judges comments unpleasant, Paula should be booted off, and none of the singers are particulalarly good and I won’t be watching idol this year. I find it hard to believe that the top 13 are so ordindary when the judges had such an array of good talent to choose from.
March 13th, 2009 at 5:05 am
Crazy Americans!…. most of the singers sang bad…. and Megan, Jasmin and Jorge were the bad ones… so they got eliminated… they might be good singers but that night the songs they sang was not good, so why pick on Anoop and pass comments, show positive attitude people and let the good singer win…. and most people out there are using the words that simon uses on the show, so please judge based on what your ears hear and how you felt… hope the best singer wins… cheers people i think we are enjoying the show…
March 13th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I think the Jasmine sang really well. I just believe they made the wrong choice. In my view she has a dynamic voice for a sixteen year old.
March 13th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Although I believe the right people were eliminated, I disagree with the judges comments about the song choice “Beat It”. Anoop did it poorly yes however the judges stated that anyone who attempts the song will sound like karaoke, I beg to differ as Fergie’s version of the song was sick and clean. Listen for yourself and remember that there are people that can pull it off, it was just not that particular person…sorry Anoop, wrong song for you.
March 14th, 2009 at 7:59 am
I think Paula gave a real good comments. She might have difficulties expressing her thoughts in words, but her savvy in evaluating the contestants’ performance this year is undeniable. She is specific in her feedback, pointing out a certain aspect and not the general “your performance was horrendous” such as the comments Simon gave. Sometimes I think Paula has trouble voicing out her thoughts because she is quite intimidated by Simon. Don’t be, Paula. I love your comments. Stay honest, be nice when you need to encourage and be clear with your feedback when you think the participants need it. Do not be cruel for the sake of being cruel.
I think Simon is too much a tradesman. He is never been an artist, so he takes a standpoint of a merchant. That;s why his opinions are sometimes too naive, too generic, and too succumbing to (in his head) general view.
March 14th, 2009 at 10:18 am
Well Anoop sang Angel of Mine really well
March 14th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
I agree with Jasmine going but Jorge should have stayed he sings really good.Megan should go home next week. The good singers that will go to the top are Matt,Danny,Michael maybe Scoot and Adam.
March 14th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
My favorite is Lil Rounds, but I think Adam Lambert has a lot of potential, combining good showmanship with the sex appeal and style that is somewhat of a cross between Elvis Presley and Mick Jagger - he also possesses that androgynous Prince-like quality which I think could take him far in this competition, especially if he continues to remain fresh, chooses likeable songs that allow him to roam the stage, dazzling the audience, and also continues to select songs which suit his voice and his style - as he so wisely was able to do this week. With his obvious star quality, he is the one to watch this season. The red-headed young lady Allison also has potential, but I’m not so sure she has the ability to consistently choose the right songs that will make people vote for her as well as show off her talent in the best possible light. If she does get it right however, then I predict a tight race between Lil Rounds, Adam, and Allison. I think Danny and Scott have the sympathy factor going for them but I hope neither one gets in the way of Lil Rounds, Adam Lambert, and Allison Iraheta. Jasmine was out of her league and Jorge wasn’t sexy enough which is why they both got the boot early on! Anoop, Kris, Michael, etc. are all in trouble I think, because of the BIG 3 previously mentioned - Lil Rounds, Adam and Allison.
March 16th, 2009 at 3:43 am
I thought the eliminations were on target. I did however think that anoop would go this week and jorge next week.
March 16th, 2009 at 6:37 am
Jasmine was too good to go out in the first round. Jorge was also good, and I think Megan and Danny should have gone out first.
March 16th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
Jasmine is a very pretty girl who is also very young and the American Idol experience was probably enough for her to know if she really wants a career in entertainment.
I agree with someone who said that the two bottom guys will both be gone soon, doesn’t really matter which one goes first. Jorge seemed very sweet and I hope the writer who said he’d go back to Puerto rico and do really well has it right.
March 17th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Adam is a good entertainer and singer,, but I don´t know what is he doing on American Idol, they shouldnt allow people with all that background, is not a fair competition. Anoop should be gone!! is not about who is the cuttest!!!
David, Megan (very original) and Allison are the best!!! Lil has a great voice but brings nothing special.. her interpretations are very predictable
March 18th, 2009 at 6:43 am
Give Bob Dylan credit for his song Feel My Love!!Dont give the credit to Garth Brooks,as the kid did last night.
March 20th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
I think Megan is a beautiful girl but her voice is terrible, it’s not unique at all!!I think America needs to realize this is a talent contest, not a beauty contest!!
March 20th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
One thing Megan sure is.. is unique!!!Megan and Adam are the only originals, the others are just copycats…
March 25th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
I think that Jasmin should win the american idol this year….. She sings very good????????
March 26th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
I THINK MEGAN REALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE SLEEVE TATTOO REALLY LOOKS NASTY AND TRASHY AND HER VOICE SUCKS AND I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE EVEN GOT ON THE SHOW!!!!!! I SERIOUSLY DON’T KNOW HOW SHE MADE IT THIS FAR?????? ADAM,ALLISON,AND DANNY ARE THE BEST AND I THINK IT SHOULD COME DOWN TO THOSE THREE! GO AAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 28th, 2009 at 1:08 am
It is interesting that everyone has their own opinion about this years talent. My personal faves so far as: (not necessarily in this order)
1. Allison - for someone that young to have that kind of talent –I think we will see her in the Final 3.
2. Adam —I kind of agree that he has a bit more experience in the entertainment world - but I think there have been others with the same experience and talent. He redeemed himself with me this past week when he made Smokey proud.
3. Anoop - I know some of you do not like him — but he does have talent — and he is just starting to discover who he is, and the talent he does have.
One’s that are in the medium range (can take or leave): and by this I mean, they have good voices and they do have talent - but they have really do not stand out.
Megan — she has a quirky fun voice that makes her stand out. (so she has tattoos - so what, a lot of people have them)
Lil—she has a great voice - she needs to expound on who she is.
Scott —I actually think Scott is far more talented than Danny or Matt,
but he has yet to show us what he can do, but I think next week we will see a marked improvement in who he is.
Ones I can take or leave (or do not leave any impression on me).
Danny — He has a good voice, but I have yet to see him develop beyond Karoke. Seems a little on the arrogant side.
Kris - He has a good voice, he is cute, and seems like a truly nice guy, but he’s not the whole package.
Matt - has a good voice, but doesn’t seem to be able to go beyond “good Karoke.”
But, it really doesn’t matter what I think—–because everyone has their favorites—–and I know there are people that “vote for the worst” to piss off Simon……and others simply vote for their faves, and vote often!
But with every week that comes, a new genre either makes a breaks a singer…….
But to have made it this far –every one should be proud of their accomplishments.
April 7th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
I hope Lil will read this message…I have nothing but love for you. Lil if you don’t change the way you’re going you are going to lose this competition and if that is your goal then so be it!! I have never watched Idol until this season and I sit wait for you to blow the house down and I sit and nothing happens. Whomever that is telling you to be the next Whitney some sweat Diva, Fired them now!!You get one chance to ride in life and Noop and blind boy are killin’ u. If you don’t come out the bag on us next week honey pack them bags. I know you are getting advice from someone but honey they are steering you in the wrong direction. Rock it…shake us up. Get your swagger on this is your time to shine and you are sinking… If you don’t change your going to lose and after idols it’s goin’ to be harder to make a name for yourself. Don’t let them down play you…Stand up It shows in your face that you are being guided and not willing to take control of YOUR DESTINY.
Just Mo— Milwaukee, WI
April 7th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
the problem is not who is giving advice to Lil anyway she is not that good, she is boring and
predictable like most of the others..Very bad season for american idol.
April 19th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
I’ve been waiting for Lil to bring the house down. This week is Disco week, she should be shining. Would hope she do a Donna Summer’s song, with her own powerful voice. I can hear her doing “Enough is Enough” — she’s definitely got talent, and I agree whomever has been giving her advice has been giving her bad advice.
April 22nd, 2009 at 11:41 pm
cant beleive Anoop still here. He cant even sing well for the closing show. What a waste! Thought he was eleminate last week. I keep my finger cross. But judging by yesterday performances, the bottom three will be Lil, Anoop & idk (I dont care). Boy oh boy… 2 will be out!!!
April 22nd, 2009 at 11:43 pm

LIL and Anoop lost, it’s no suprise but whatever. Top 5: Matt, Adam, Danny, Kris, and Allison all great. Can’t wait till next week.
May 2nd, 2009 at 6:33 am
Adam rocks he should win and Alison has to be the runner up but gokey has to go
May 2nd, 2009 at 10:29 am
Glad to see that Matt went last week. Surprised Adam was in the bottom 3, but his performance last week was a bit ‘too much.’
I’m guessing that Kris will be the next to go, but hopefully it will be Danny. I’d like to see Allison and Adam in the finals. I think Allison’s raw talent does outweigh Adams’ professional experience.
