That kid that sang feel my love, said he was proude to sing a Garth brooks son. That song is a Bob Dylan song and I think american Iodle should clarify that on air!!
March 17th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
Gary is right. Adele covered it on her album 19. It’s definitely Bob. Not Garth. I truly hope American Idol rectifies this faux pas before nights end.

Hey, judges……it’s country week. You criticize others about song choices and applaud that awful version of Ring of Fire. That was not country. If it is country week, contestants should show they can sing a country genre.
March 17th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
@Belinda: Ring of Fire = Johnny Cash = Country
March 17th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
that was the most unbearable version of ring of fire i have ever heard. That really did make me throw my television, i thank Simon for saying what he did, it needed to be done.
March 17th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
yeah belinda, johnny cash is country, i would know, i sing country myself and he is my insperation

Wake up Idol and give the true artist his credit.
March 18th, 2009 at 6:43 am
FYI : the song “make you feel my love”
Garth Brooks sing that song too… so its not completly wrong for adele say that Garth brooks song

ADAM TRULY MADE ME WANT TO VOMIT HE SHOWED TOTAL DISRESPECT TO A TRUE COUNTRY LEGEND.IF HE ISNT IN THE BOTTOM SOMETHING IS WRONG. HE SUCKED
March 18th, 2009 at 9:38 am
Adam is very talented, he is just not what we expect to see on AI. He shows his own style and his unique musical interpretation that may be just too way out there that most people cant get past it to see that he is before his time.
March 18th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
Adam was suppose to sing country and he did not even try. He ruined the song…for once I agreed with Simon! The rest did a great job.
My favorite is Danny however he was not the best last night. He will still get a chance to go forward though! I like Megan but I do not like the way she stands behind the microphone and twist…..she needs better movements. She is beautiful and can sing…she just needs stop acting like a little girl with her dolly.

Yes Garth did record that song.He did a verry good job at it too.It is a song he sang .Not his song.It is a Bob Dylan song, and I just think it is a desrespect to one of the all time greatest idols and song writers in the world, to give credit of one of his songs to another person.
March 18th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
I think that Garth shouldn’t get the credit…
March 18th, 2009 at 8:19 pm
Michael should have sang a better song, this was his week,.. Now he is going home.
March 18th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
I think AI is rigged. That Adam didn’t get booted for not singing country is a travesty. The rule was it was country and western night. He didn’t sing country and western so he should have gotten an automatic disqualification. See what will happen if a performer sings country and western on a different theme night. I bet they get the boot. AI and the judges despise country and western. They had that night just to draw a bigger audience. I think the fix is already in and I for one will not be tuning into AI for the rest of this season.

I think Adam did an execellent job singing Ring of Fire, just because it is country week does not mean every song has to sang country, as long as it is a country song. There is nothing wrong, if they take a song and put their own spin on it. Keep up the good work Adam, and hope you win second place, so you can put out your own album.

I love Danny, and Lil rounds, I think that the blind kid sorry dont remember the names that well yet, he is ok, but not good enough to have stayed. The screamer, is awful, I hate everything from him, is that all he has is that scream, steven tyler has that position taken already, the 80’s are done. The 1st contestant was good to, just recognized him this week, the other weeks I thought he should have left, so bravo, keep up the good work. The blonde sounds like amy whinehouse, crappy. Never understood the singers that feel the need to pronunciate (spelling) worlds so ridiculously.. and that tatoo on her arm and the dancing is awful..vote her off. Michael will make a good country singer, it fits him and he will be another buddy , not the winner of idol but someone that you would buy records from.

Ok not all of the songs performed were actually written by the “named” artist. “Jesus, Take the Wheel” was written by Brett James, Hillary Lindsey and Gordie Sampson but, they said “here to sing Jesus take the wheel BY Carrie Underwood is Danny Gokey.” Oh and June Carter wrote “Ring of fire”. They go by the name of the artist that sang the particular version that they are basing their performance on. That contestant’s version was based on the country version sang by Garth Brooks. Just like that one year Chris Daughtry sang a version of a song by Johnny Cash too, but his version was based on the group Live’s interpretation of the song.
