American Idol 2009 Top 12 - First 3 Revealed
February 19th, 2009 American Idol, Season 8,Last night on American Idol, the first 3 of the 2009 Idol Top 12 were revealed to be:
- Alexis Grace
- Michael Sarver
- Danny Gokey
Danny Gokey had been my prediction for the top ranked male, but he had to beat out Tatiana to move forward as the night’s Top 3.
Next week’s 12 from the Top 36 performers will be:
- Kris Allen
- Matt Breitzke
- Meagan Corkrey
- Matt Giruad
- Mishavonna Henson
- Allison Iraheta
- Kai Kalama
- Adam Lambert
- Jesse Langseth
- Nick Mitchell
- Jasmine Murray
- Janine Vailes

can someone explain how the 10th, 11th, and 12th spots in the final twelve are being determined? there are three groups of twelve, we’ve seen group one perform and the three moving forward. so my math tells me we have six more contestants to be voted into the final twelve. where are the last three coming from?

Anoop was definitely in the top 12, my top 3….very disappointing that the overall 12 top vote getters didn’t advance….not looking forward to future shows as much now.

the last 3 are going to be the next top 3 voters overall and right now anoop would be in there cause he was only 20000 votes short….so after 9 voted in the next top 3 advance

I am one of the Norm Gentle fans! Sadly though I will give all my votes to him I would bet money that Meagan, Adam and Jasmine will be the 3 put forward.

What is really going on?? Ricky Braddy rocked the house. He should be in the top 12. America is really going to miss out on some good singing if he is not picked for the wild card.

I dont support this new selection format. I feel they should have kept the old format. I too felt that either anoop or ricky would have made it thru instead of Micheal. Anyway let’s hope that at least one of them gets another opportunity.

Based on talent, the top three from the next batch should be:
Matt Giraud (top male)
Allison Iraheta (top female)
Adam Lambert (next highest)
That Giraud guy is unbelievable, forget the dueling piano skills, I hope he does utilize the piano though. Iraheta reminds me a lot of Jordin Sparks with her huge voice, and Lambert will be a crowd favorite until he’s eliminated in the Top 6 overall or so.

Lil rounds is in the 3rd group. I would say for this one Jazmine Murray, Matt Girard, and Adam Lambert, but definitely dont count out Kai, Kris, Allison, and Megan. Plus we havent even heard some of them… this week will be waaaaaaaaay better

I enjoyed watching american idol last wednesday. i was shocked when tatiana sang saving all my love for you. she really has talent to be in the top 12 but unfortunately she didn`t made it to the top 3 last thursday. hopefully there will be second chance for deserving contestant. actually, i think all the first 12 deserves to be in the top twelve but i really enjoy watching tatiana onscreen. she`s so pretty. not my bet but one that i like

I would like to see Adam Lambert,Allison Iraheta and either Jasmine or Kai to make the top 3 on this 2nd batch.Ricky Braddy should of been in the 1st batch. Oh well maybe the judges will bring him back on their choices. My understanding of this years Idol is we will pick 3 out of each of the 3 groups and the judges will pick 3 out of all of them to bring back to make the 12. That’s how we get the top 12 to vote on.
